A Calvinist congregation organized
in 1692 by a group of Scottish Dissenters,
Old Tennent has occupied
the existing building since 1751. This
hilltop meeting house incorporates
a gallery and some elements of an
earlier church. During the Battle of
Monmouth, the church was used as
a field hospital. The adjoining burial
ground includes unmarked graves
of some of the battle's casualties. A
five-minute audio describes the history
of the congregation, building
and grounds.
